Redwell School Taking Shape
Construction of the new Redwell school is progressing well, with the roof completed and the building now fully wind and watertight.
Education Convener Ellen Forson and Director of Education David Leng joined the children of Claremont and St John's primary schools to take part in a topping out ceremony at the building, where children are set to fill the classrooms after the summer holidays.
Pupils of the two schools have been making regular visits to the site to see how the construction of the purpose built school is progressing. The schools joined forces with constructor Robertson to put together a programme of educational opportunities for the children. Pupils from all age groups have been looking at all aspects of the built environment that surrounds them, from bricklaying and plumbing to renewable energy and landscaping.
