Project Information

The new St. Margaret’s Primary School & Cowie Nursery provides accommodation for circa 250 school pupils and 100 nursery children in the Stirlingshire village of Cowie.

The building comprises five significant areas, teaching wing, kitchen and dining, admin, community hall and nursery. The teaching space occupies its own wing pointing towards Stirling, with the assembly hall and community hall located in the centre of the building. The main kitchen and the dining hall are located to the right of the front elevation, adjacent to this is the school main entrance and the administration suite. Sitting to the left of that is the main [and separate] entrance to the Nursery and community facilities. The community facilities are also entered via the nursery entrance and this leads to a separate dedicated community hall and associated kitchen toilet and storage facilities.

This project was the culmination of an extensive design process and consultation with many stakeholders and the local community.

Proposals were developed to maintain the separate identities of the existing facilities within the new development. Community hall and changing facilities were also included to support the community use of the educational facilities.
