Fife Council sign hub DBFM contract for new £42.5m Levenmouth High School
Fife Council has formally appointed hub East Central Scotland (hubco) to deliver the new Levenmouth High School for catchment areas in Buckhaven and Kirkland.
On 22nd December 2014, the Council and hubco signed a contract to pave the way for the £42.5m investment to build the new 18,100m2 school building, which is a significant step in achieving the Council’s vision to develop a state of the art school with the potential to bring significant educational, economic and social benefits to the Levenmouth community.
The new school is being built on the grounds of the existing Buckhaven High School, and is due to open in August 2016, providing 1800 pupils with safe, secure and well-designed academic spaces that are complemented by a variety of facilities for community-wide use.
Cllr. Bryan Poole, Fife Council’s Spokesperson for Children’s and Family Services added “ The new Levenmouth school forms part of Fife Council’s £200m+ Building Fife’s Future programme of investment in improving our school estate. Financial Close of this project represents a major milestone in our plans and together with investment being made by Fife College in an adjacent facility, the new school will form part of the centrepiece of our drive to help regenerate the Levenmouth area.”
