Minister lays foundations for new Harris Academy
Minister for Learning, Science and Scotland's Languages Dr Alasdair Allan will help lay foundations of the new £31 million Harris Academy on Thursday (March 27).
He will be joined by Dundee City Council administration leader Councillor Ken Guild and depute education convener Councillor Gregor Murray, representatives of joint venture partnership hub East Central Scotland (hubCo), and its contractor Robertson Construction Group.
Minister for Learning Alasdair Allan said:
“The Scottish Government is committed to delivering good quality, well designed, sustainable schools through the Schools for the Future programme. I am pleased that we could contribute just over £20 million in funding for the construction of Harris Academy which will provide state of the art accommodation for around 1200 pupils.
“I am delighted to help mark the start of the construction process which will result in a fantastic new school that the whole community can benefit from and be proud of for many years to come and I look forward to seeing the new school in 2016.”
