£2.9M INPATIENT WARD & MENTAL HEALTH CENTRE COMPLETED IN FALKIRK
Hub East Central Scotland delivered two refurbishment projects at Falkirk Community Hospital at a cost of £2.9 million that will provide mental health day care facilities, together with an additional community hospital inpatient ward.
The new facilities are the result of a refurbishment programme for Wards 18 and 19 at Falkirk Community Hospital. The area has been converted into the Woodlands Resource Centre, which provides a wide range of mental health day care, therapy and support services as well as a base for local mental health and social care staff.
The refurbishment of the former Ward 1 (now known as Unit 5) provides additional inpatient accommodation at Falkirk Community Hospital for people, including many older patients, who require additional short-term care, an assessment or rehabilitation following an illness or treatment in an acute hospital.
Gary Bushnell, Chief Executive, Hub East Central Scotland, said: “Our team successfully managed these projects to ensure that they were delivered within tight timescales and budget constraints, without compromise in the quality of the refurbishment. The new facilities at Falkirk Community Hospital provide a modern environment designed to meet the specific needs of patients.”
