Project Information
The pharmaceutical ‘specials’ manufacturing facility on the grounds of Ninewells Hospital brings together the Tayside pharmaceuticals (TP) and greater Glasgow and Clyde pharmacy production units. The facility manufactures medicines for patients across the UK when available licensed medicines do not meet their specific needs.
Hub worked closely with stakeholders to gain complete understanding of all process flow requirements for people, product and waste – ensuring the best possible design for a facility that would be in operation 24/7.
Over three floors, facilities including cleanrooms were designed to specific technical standards and in full compliance with the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency. Specialist installation included environmental control and process utilities for speciality gases, pure steam and breathing air.
Support accommodation – including offices, warehouse, refrigerated cold rooms, canteen, collaborative spaces and meeting areas – was designed to provide a pleasant workspace and encourage high productivity.
The building provides NHS Scotland with a facility that is easily upgradable to future manufacturing processes, with minimal disruption.
